As birth doulas we see childbirth as a natural process and we have full confidence in your body birthing your baby. By providing information, support during labour and continuity of care it is statistically proven that women are more likely to have a natural birth and less likely to have intervention. However not all women want a natural birth and we happily support you in your choice of birthing environment and pain relief. We attend births at home, birthing units and labour ward, including planned c-sections and we work both within the NHS and Private hospitals. The doula role is not one to replace the father – we aim to enhance his experience too by working alongside him, offering suggestions for techniques and comfort measures during labour so that he is better able to support his partner. Labours can be exhausting, not only for the mother but the father too and a doula can provide some respite for dads to take a break, grab something to eat or to offer reassurance and explain procedures and hospital protocols. We aim to empower you both to make informed decisions so that whatever choices are made along the way are YOUR choices and that you look back on the birth positively.
We offer a free initial consultation. Our birth doula package includes:
- On call 24/7 from 38 weeks
- 2 antenatal preparation meetings discussing birth options and covering all aspects of labour, birth and breastfeeding
- Continuous emotional and physical support throughout your labour and birth
- 1 postnatal visit to debrief your birth, support with breastfeeding or any issues and of course to admire your baby!
- Email and telephone support from time of booking
Fees from £1000
As postnatal doulas we provide practical and emotional support for new mothers and their family. No two days or two jobs are ever the same. Individual needs are varied and could include debriefing your birth, breastfeeding support, looking after baby while you rest, looking after siblings, cooking a simple meal and generally helping to keep the home running smoothly, in fact anything that makes those first precious weeks more enjoyable. We have knowledge and experience of the many different parenting styles and philosophies of raising children. Through providing information and support we aim to empower you to have the confidence to follow your own instincts and find your own parenting style. We can tailor make the level of support according to your individual needs.
Fees from £15 to £25 per hour
We offer up to date information and support to mothers who would like help with getting breastfeeding off to a good start. Often mothers are confused by the amount of differing opinions and advice given to them and having an experienced doula visit you in your home (or hospital) can be comforting as we spend time getting to know you and your baby and your unique needs/problems/anxieties. We can assess for potential problems and will signpost you to the relevant experts to help you with issues such as mastitis, thrush or tongue tie. We can offer guidance on latching, position and attachment, normal feeding patterns, expressing, weaning and supply issues. Good support is often the key to successful breastfeeding!
